Bula Western Sydney! Fiji Airways WSI Launches Direct Flights from WSI
Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) has secured another major international airline, with Fiji Airways officially launching ticket sales for direct flights to Nadi, Fiji.
This new route marks a significant milestone for the region, as Fiji Airways WSI continues to expand its global reach.
Starting Friday, 19 March 2027, the South Pacific’s premier airline will operate three weekly flights from Sydney’s new 24-hour global gateway, offering travellers a seamless new connection to one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations.
Flight Schedule and Details
The new service is designed to maximise holiday time and business productivity, taking full advantage of WSI’s curfew-free operations:
- Launch Date: Friday, 19 March 2027
- Frequency: Three weekly return flights operating every Monday, Friday, and Sunday.
- The Schedule: Flights will depart WSI at 11:55 pm, arriving in Nadi just before 5:00 am the following morning. This overnight schedule allows holidaymakers to connect swiftly with morning boat and ferry transfers to the islands, while business travellers can save on daytime travel hours.
- The Aircraft: Services will operate on the modern Boeing 737 MAX 8, featuring 170 seats (162 in Economy and 8 in Business Class).

Connecting Communities and Travellers
The new route is expected to be a major win for both leisure travellers and local families. More than 70 per cent of Sydney’s Fijian population lives in Western Sydney, making this direct service a highly anticipated link for visiting friends and relatives.
WSI Chief Executive Officer Simon Hickey welcomed the partnership, noting that over 400,000 passengers travelled between New South Wales and Fiji last year alone.
“We’re delighted to be delivering a new, seamless service for Western Sydney’s vibrant, multicultural communities to connect with family and friends,” Mr Hickey said.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Paul Scurrah, echoed the excitement, stating that the new route is a natural next step for the airline.
“Western Sydney is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country,” Mr Scurrah said. “For us, this is about more than tourism—it’s about making it easier for our own people to stay connected to family and home.”
